This year, I happened to receive a mooncake gift set from JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi. I did not purchase it myself, but after trying it, I found it to be one of the most memorable and delicious mooncakes I have had so far.

JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi is a 5-star hotel in Hanoi.
Located in a quiet lakeside setting, the hotel has 450 rooms and suites. It also features restaurants and bars, a spa, an indoor swimming pool, and fitness facilities, making it a destination not only for overnight stays but also for dining.
Guests can enjoy a wide variety of cuisine within the hotel, including international dishes at JW Café, French cuisine at French Grill, Cantonese cuisine at Wong Chi Ming, and Japanese cuisine at Kumihimo.

The first thing that surprised me about this mooncake gift set was the packaging.
The large box uses a deep red and navy color scheme, with the “JW MARRIOTT HANOI” logo displayed on the front. When the outer panels are opened like doors, several red drawers appear inside.
Even taking out each mooncake feels different from opening an ordinary box of sweets. The whole unboxing experience feels carefully designed as part of the gift itself.

What impressed me most when I tasted the mooncakes was the richness of the filling.
That does not mean they were simply very sweet. The filling spread smoothly in the mouth, while the pastry, filling, and egg yolk worked together in a well-balanced way.
For me, this was one of the most delicious mooncakes I have tried so far.

When I cut one open, I found a large egg yolk in the center.
The rich, smooth filling combined with the savory depth and slight saltiness of the egg yolk, creating a more complex flavor than a simple sweet pastry.
The mooncakes may look small, but they are quite rich, so I think they are best enjoyed slowly, a little at a time.

What stood out to me was that the sense of luxury did not come only from the box.
The smooth texture of the filling, its richness, and the balance with the egg yolk all came together very well. The mooncakes themselves felt carefully thought out and well made.
Of course, taste is subjective, but I personally felt a clear difference compared with more ordinary mooncakes.

🎫 A 15% Restaurant and Bar Discount Voucher Was Also Included
The gift set I received also included a voucher that can be used for food and beverage services at JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi.
According to the voucher, it offers a 15% discount on Food & Beverage services for up to 8 people at the hotel’s restaurants and bars. The voucher was valid until December 31, 2026.
Advance reservations are required, and certain blackout dates and other conditions apply, so it is important to check the Terms and Conditions printed on the voucher before using it.
💰 A Premium Price, but the Quality Makes Sense
I received this set as a gift, so I did not purchase it myself and cannot confirm the actual purchase price of this particular box.
For reference, JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi’s officially announced 2026 Mooncake Collection started from 1,880,000 VND+ per box. However, I have not confirmed that the set I received is exactly the same product or was sold at the same price.
Even so, after tasting the mooncakes, it was easy to understand that the product had been designed as a premium gift, not only in terms of flavor but also in the packaging and presentation.
🎁 Receiving It as a Gift Made the Appeal Even Clearer
Since I was on the receiving end this time, I could really appreciate how impressive it feels as a gift.
The box itself has a strong presence, and opening it reveals several drawers containing mooncakes, tea, and other items. It feels completely different from receiving an ordinary box of sweets.
Giving mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival is an important tradition in Vietnam, and a hotel mooncake set like this would work well when you want to give something a little more special to family, friends, or business partners.
💡 Also Worth Considering If You Simply Want a Really Good Mooncake
As a luxury hotel mooncake set, this is not something most people would consider inexpensive.
However, if you are going to enjoy mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival anyway, it can be a nice option for anyone who wants to try something a little more special.
I only had the chance to try these because I happened to receive them as a gift, but tasting them helped me understand at least part of the reason why mooncakes from luxury hotels are priced higher than ordinary ones.
✅ Final Thoughts｜A 5-Star Hotel Mooncake I Would Not Have Discovered Otherwise
The JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi mooncakes I received impressed me not only with their luxurious packaging but also with the quality of the mooncakes themselves.
What stood out most was the rich yet smooth filling and the overall balance, including the egg yolk. Among the mooncakes I have tried so far, these were some of the most memorable and delicious.
The price is on the premium side, but if you are looking for a special Mid-Autumn Festival gift or simply want to try a particularly good mooncake, this is one worth checking out.
